Scale
Wet Ingredients
- 6 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 6 tablespoons brown sugar, packed
- 2/3 cup honey
Dry Ingredients
- 3 cups rolled oats
- 1 1/2 cups Rice Krispies cereal
- 1/2 cup graham crackers, crushed
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Add-ins
- 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup cereal marshmallows
Instructions
- Prepare Pan: Spray an 8×8 inch pan with vegetable oil and line the bottom with parchment paper to prevent sticking and make removal easier.
- Melt Ingredients: In a pot over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter, packed brown sugar, and honey together. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil and cook for 2 minutes, stirring to combine and dissolve the sugar.
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the rolled oats, Rice Krispies cereal, crushed graham crackers, and salt. Pour the melted butter-honey mixture over the dry ingredients and mix thoroughly until everything is evenly coated. Allow this mixture to cool for 20 minutes so it thickens slightly.
- Add Mix-Ins: Carefully fold in the mini chocolate chips and cereal marshmallows into the cooled mixture to distribute them evenly without melting the marshmallows.
- Press and Chill: Press the mixture firmly into the prepared pan, ensuring it’s tightly packed. Place the pan in the refrigerator and chill for 2 hours to set the bars properly.
- Slice and Serve: After chilling, remove the bars from the pan using the parchment paper edges and cut them into 16 equal pieces. Serve immediately or store in an airtight container.
Notes
- Make sure to let the melted mixture cool slightly before adding marshmallows and chocolate chips to avoid melting them.
- Use parchment paper for easy removal and cleaner slicing of bars.
- Store the granola bars in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week or refrigerate for longer freshness.
- You can customize the mix-ins by adding nuts, dried fruits, or seeds for extra texture and flavor.
- Press the mixture firmly into the pan to ensure bars hold together well after chilling.
