These Orange Creamsicle Truffles are a delightful no-bake treat combining creamy cream cheese, sweet white chocolate, and vibrant orange flavors. Perfect for parties or a special dessert, these truffles offer a smooth, citrusy bite reminiscent of the classic creamsicle ice cream treat.
Ingredients
Scale
Truffle Base
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 tablespoon orange zest
- 1 teaspoon orange extract
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 drop orange gel food coloring (optional)
Coating
- 12 oz white chocolate, divided (6 oz for mixing, 6 oz for dipping)
Instructions
- Soften and Beat Cream Cheese: Let the cream cheese sit at room temperature until softened, then beat it in a mixing bowl until smooth and creamy.
- Add Flavorings and Sugar: Incorporate powdered sugar, orange zest, orange extract, vanilla extract, and optional orange gel food coloring into the cream cheese. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are fully combined.
- Melt and Mix White Chocolate: Melt 6 ounces of white chocolate and let it cool slightly to prevent curdling. Stir the melted chocolate into the cream cheese mixture until smooth and evenly blended.
- Chill the Mixture: Cover the bowl and refrigerate the mixture for 1 to 2 hours, or until it firms up enough to shape into balls.
- Shape the Truffles: Scoop the chilled mixture and roll into approximately 1-inch balls. Place on a tray and chill again for 15 minutes to firm up.
- Melt Remaining White Chocolate: Gently melt the remaining 6 ounces of white chocolate, preparing it for dipping.
- Dip Truffles in Chocolate: Dip each chilled truffle into the melted white chocolate, ensuring they are fully coated. Place the coated truffles on a parchment-lined tray for setting.
- Decorate and Set: Optionally drizzle with orange-colored chocolate or sprinkle with additional orange zest. Allow the chocolate coating to fully set before serving.
Notes
- Use room temperature cream cheese for easier mixing and smoother texture.
- Gel food coloring is optional but enhances the vibrant orange appearance.
- Ensure melted chocolate is cooled slightly to prevent melting the cream cheese mixture when combined.
- Store truffles in the refrigerator in an airtight container to keep them fresh.
- For a stronger orange flavor, adjust the orange extract and zest to taste.
