Description

Easy Chicken Yakisoba is a quick and flavorful Japanese stir-fried noodle dish featuring tender chicken strips, fresh vegetables, and savory sauces. Perfect for a weeknight dinner, this recipe delivers a balanced combination of protein, veggies, and noodles tossed in a delicious, slightly sweet soy and oyster sauce mixture.

Ingredients

Scale

Chicken

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (1 lb), sliced into strips
  • 3 cloves fresh garlic, minced

Vegetables

  • 2 cups shredded green cabbage
  • 1 cup carrots, julienned

Noodles & Sauces

  • 8 oz yakisoba noodles
  • 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp cooking oil (for frying)

Instructions

  1. Prep Ingredients: Slice the chicken breasts into thin strips, shred the green cabbage, and julienne the carrots to have all components ready for quick cooking.
  2. Cook Chicken: Heat 1 tablespoon of cooking oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the sliced chicken and cook for 5-7 minutes until the chicken turns golden brown and is cooked through.
  3. Stir-fry Vegetables: Add minced garlic, shredded cabbage, and julienned carrots to the skillet. Stir-fry for several minutes until the vegetables are tender but retain a slight crispness.
  4. Add Noodles: Add the yakisoba noodles to the skillet. If the noodles are sticking together, rinse them under warm water before adding. Gently stir to combine the noodles with the chicken and vegetables evenly.
  5. Add Sauces: Pour in the low-sodium soy sauce and oyster sauce over the mixture. Stir continuously for about 2 minutes until everything is heated through and evenly coated with the sauce.
  6. Finish & Serve: Drizzle the stir-fried yakisoba with sesame oil for added aroma and flavor. Optionally, garnish with sliced scallions or toasted sesame seeds before serving.

Notes

  • Rinsing the yakisoba noodles before cooking helps prevent clumping for better texture.
  • Use low-sodium soy sauce to control salt content, but regular soy sauce can be used if preferred.
  • Adding scallions or sesame seeds as garnish adds extra flavor and crunch.
  • You can substitute chicken breasts with thighs for more juiciness.
  • For a spicier version, add chili flakes or a splash of sriracha sauce during cooking.
