Description
This Easy Baked Caesar Chicken recipe combines tender, pounded chicken breasts with creamy Caesar dressing, melted provolone cheese, and a crunchy Caesar-style crouton topping. Baked to golden perfection, it’s a flavorful and simple dinner option that serves four.
Ingredients
Scale
Chicken
- 2 lbs. boneless, skinless chicken breasts (pounded to an even thickness)
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
Toppings
- ½ cup creamy Caesar dressing
- 8 slices provolone cheese
- 1 cup Caesar-style croutons
Instructions
- Preheat oven and prepare dish: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish to prevent sticking and make cleanup easier.
- Arrange and season chicken: Place the pounded chicken breasts in a single layer in the baking dish. Evenly season both sides with salt and black pepper for balanced flavor.
- Add Caesar dressing and cheese: Spread the creamy Caesar dressing evenly over each chicken breast, then top each piece entirely with the sliced provolone cheese to create a rich, melty layer.
- Prepare crouton topping: Place the Caesar-style croutons into a large Ziplock bag and crush them into crumbs using a rolling pin or your hands. Sprinkle these crumbs evenly over the provolone cheese-covered chicken.
- Bake the chicken: Place the baking dish on the center oven rack and bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the chicken is fully cooked and the crouton topping turns golden brown. If the crumbs brown too quickly, loosely cover the dish with aluminum foil to prevent burning. The chicken is safe to eat once it reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
Notes
- Use a meat mallet or rolling pin to pound the chicken breasts for even cooking.
- If you prefer, substitute provolone with mozzarella or another mild cheese.
- For extra crispiness, you can broil the chicken for 1-2 minutes at the end of baking—watch carefully to avoid burning.
- Leftover chicken can be stored in an airtight container and refrigerated for up to 3 days.
- To make Caesar-style croutons at home, toast cubed bread seasoned with garlic powder and Parmesan cheese.
