Description

A comforting and easy-to-make Crockpot Chicken and Noodles recipe featuring tender shredded chicken, creamy broth, and perfectly cooked egg noodles, all prepared effortlessly in a slow cooker for a hearty family meal.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 12 oz egg noodles
  • 1.5–2 lb chicken breasts
  • ½ stick butter, cut into pats
  • Two 10.5-oz cans cream of chicken soup
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 3.5 cups chicken broth
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 tbsp chicken bouillon
  • 2–4 tbsp dried parsley

Instructions

  1. Season Chicken: Place the chicken breasts in the crockpot and season evenly with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and chicken bouillon to infuse flavor throughout the meat.
  2. Add Soup: Spread both cans of cream of chicken soup evenly over the seasoned chicken, creating a creamy base for the dish.
  3. Add Butter and Broth: Place the butter pats on top and pour in the chicken broth, which will help cook and tenderize the chicken while enriching the sauce.
  4. Cook Chicken: Cover the crockpot and cook on high for 3 to 4 hours until the chicken breasts become tender and fully cooked.
  5. Shred Chicken: Once tender, remove the chicken breasts and shred them using two forks, then return the shredded chicken to the crockpot.
  6. Add Noodles: Add the egg noodles to the crockpot, ensuring they are completely submerged in the cooking liquid for even cooking.
  7. Cook Noodles: Cover again and cook for an additional 20 to 30 minutes, or until the noodles are softened and cooked through.
  8. Finish and Serve: Stir in the dried parsley, adjust seasoning with salt and pepper as needed, and serve the creamy chicken and noodles warm for a satisfying meal.

Notes

  • You can substitute dried parsley with fresh parsley for a brighter flavor, adding it at the end.
  • For a lower sodium version, use low-sodium chicken broth and soups, and reduce added salt and bouillon.
  • Feel free to add vegetables such as carrots or celery at the start of cooking for extra nutrition and flavor.
  • If you prefer thicker sauce, remove the lid during the last 30 minutes to allow some liquid to evaporate.
