Ingredients
Scale
For the Chicken:
- 2 large chicken breasts, sliced into strips
- 1 cup buttermilk (or milk + 1 tsp lemon juice)
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (panko for extra crunch)
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- Oil for frying
For the Wraps:
- 4 large flour tortillas
- 8 strips crispy cooked bacon
- 1 cup shredded cheddar or Colby Jack cheese
- 1 cup shredded lettuce
- 1–2 Roma tomatoes, diced
- 1/2 cup ranch dressing
Instructions
- Marinate the Chicken: Soak the sliced chicken strips in buttermilk for at least 15 minutes, or up to 2 hours in the refrigerator, to tenderize and add moisture.
- Bread & Fry: In a shallow bowl, combine flour, breadcrumbs, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Remove chicken from the buttermilk, dredge thoroughly in the flour mixture, pressing lightly to coat evenly. Heat oil to 350°F (175°C) in a frying pan and fry chicken strips for 4–5 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature 165°F/74°C). Drain on paper towels. Alternatively, for a healthier version, air fry at 400°F for 10–12 minutes, flipping halfway.
- Assemble the Wraps: Warm the tortillas slightly until pliable. Spread ranch dressing along the center of each tortilla. Layer with crispy chicken strips, bacon, shredded cheese, shredded lettuce, and diced tomatoes.
- Wrap & Crisp: Fold in the sides of the tortilla and roll tightly to form wraps. Heat a skillet over medium heat and place each wrap seam-side down. Cook for 2–3 minutes per side until the tortilla is golden and lightly crispy, and the cheese has melted slightly.
Notes
- Add sliced avocado inside the wraps for extra creaminess and richness.
- Toss chicken strips in buffalo sauce before assembling for a spicy flavor twist.
- Use freshly grated cheese for better melting and texture.
- Let the wraps rest for 2 minutes after cooking before slicing to keep them intact and achieve cleaner cuts.
