Description

Delight your guests with this Cranberry Baked Brie recipe, featuring a creamy wheel of brie nestled inside a hollowed bread boule, topped with tart cranberry sauce and fresh thyme, then baked until golden and melty. This easy-to-make appetizer combines gooey cheese, tangy cranberries, and crusty bread slices perfect for sharing at holiday parties or cozy gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale

Ingredients

  • 1 bread boule (round loaf)
  • Cooking spray
  • 1 (8-ounce) wheel brie cheese
  • ½ cup cranberry sauce
  • 2 tablespoons fresh thyme

Instructions

  1. Preheat and prepare: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
  2. Prepare bread and brie: Slice off the top quarter of the bread loaf and then slice off the rind of the brie wheel. Place the brie on top of the bread and use a knife to trace around it. Scoop out the bread inside the circle to create a hollow that fits the brie perfectly. Reserve the scooped bread for another use or to toast as a side.
  3. Assemble the bread and brie: Place the hollowed bread on the baking sheet. Insert the brie wheel into the hollowed center. Spray the outside of the bread with cooking spray. Carefully cut slices on the bread around the edges about 1 to 2 inches apart, cutting deep enough to create removable slices but not all the way through the bottom.
  4. Add toppings and bake: Spoon the cranberry sauce on top of the brie and sprinkle fresh thyme over it. Bake in the preheated oven for about 25 minutes, or until the bread is toasted and the brie is melted.
  5. Serve immediately: Remove from the oven and serve right away while the cheese is warm and melty, using the cut slices of bread to scoop up the cheesy cranberry delight.

Notes

  • For a sweeter twist, consider adding a drizzle of honey over the cranberry sauce before baking.
  • Fresh thyme can be substituted with rosemary or sage for a different herbal flavor.
  • Use a sturdy, crusty bread boule to provide a solid base that holds the melted cheese well.
  • Reserve the scooped-out bread to make breadcrumbs or toast for added texture on the side.
  • This dish is best served warm for the perfect gooey cheese experience.
