Ingredients
Scale
Base Ingredients
- 1/2 mashed ripe banana
- 1/2 cup rolled oats (regular or gluten free)
- 1/2 cup milk of choice
Add-ins and Flavorings
- 2 tbsp chopped pecans or walnuts
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- Dash of sea salt
- 1 tbsp ground flax (optional)
- 2 tsp 100% pure maple syrup
Instructions
- Mash the Banana: Mash half a ripe banana at the bottom of a sealable bowl or jar to create a smooth base for your overnight oats.
- Combine Ingredients: Add the rolled oats, milk of choice, chopped nuts, vanilla extract, cinnamon, sea salt, ground flax (if using), and maple syrup to the bowl or jar. Stir well to evenly combine all ingredients.
- Refrigerate: Cover the container and refrigerate the mixture for at least 4 hours or overnight. This allows the oats to soak up the liquid and flavors, softening to a creamy texture.
- Serve: After soaking, serve your overnight oats either cold directly from the fridge or warm them up if preferred.
- Garnish: Optionally, garnish with extra sliced banana or additional chopped nuts to add more texture and flavor before serving.
Notes
- You can use any milk of choice such as dairy, almond, soy, or oat milk to fit your dietary preferences.
- Chopped walnuts or pecans can be substituted or combined depending on your nut preference or availability.
- Adding ground flax boosts fiber and omega-3 fatty acids but can be omitted if desired.
- This recipe is easily doubled or tripled for meal prepping several servings in advance.
- Overnight oats can be eaten cold or warmed gently in the microwave for a cozy breakfast.
